The Coca-Cola Collectors Club was established in 1974 to promote the preservation and collection of memorabilia related to The Coca-Cola Company. There is currently over 2,500 active member throughout the world and specifically 80 members in the Great Lakes Chapter.
The Great Lakes Chapter is currently celebrating its 32nd Anniversary this year in Southeast Michigan. There are folks that have been members for 32 years and others that have members for 3 months. We welcome all age groups and all interests. We have some collectors that specialize in vintage pre 1950 Coca Cola advertising as well as the new collector that is interested in decorating their man den or kitchen in reproduction memorabilia.
Whether you are a member or thinking of becoming a member you are welcome to attend an event and try it out. Please reference our chapter calendar of events to see where/when the next event will be held.
Once per year we host an antique show for you to either sell and/or add to your collection. This event is held in Livonia at the Elks Club on Plymouth Road. We encourage collectors to attend the event it will give you a chance to get that one item appraised by fellow members as well as you can gauge the market price of your collection. The event will be held on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 9am – 2pm with admission being $4 (kids are free).
We have several other annual events that local chapter members host out of their homes and/or local restaurants. This summer the national chapter will host the annual convention in Springfield, Missouri. If you can imagine over 1,000 people all walking around drinking, talking and living Coca Cola it is a fabulous experience. The people are friendly and the best thing about it is that you have the same interests and hobby as they do! Locally, we will have a summer picnic in St. John’s at a member’s home (north of Lansing) and then attend a baseball game after the picnic where we will watch the Lansing Lugnuts. We close out each year with an annual holiday party hosted the first Saturday of December at Chapman’s Mill in Rochester Hills.
When we get together remember one thing we are all here because we have the same common interest and that is in collecting Coca Cola and possibly other soda and/or advertising items. We stand around tell stories and reminisce about the “find of a lifetime” or maybe the “find that slipped thru our fingers”.
Come and relax and enjoy some Coca Cola and some friendly conversation that is what this club is all about.
